JOE LATAKGOMO is the founding editor of The Sowetan. He started his career in 1967 as a sports reporter, and has since held several senior positions at South African newspapers, including sport editor and later editor of the now defunct The World, senior assistant editor of The Star and deputy editor of Argus Africa News Service. Latakgomo was recently inducted into South African Breweries’ (SAB) Sports Journalist Hall of Fame for his major contribution to sport in the country.
