The software version of Pharos’s most comprehensive reference work, the Pharos Afrikaans-English / English-Afrikaans Dictionary is again available as a single product.

This electronic version of the dictionary contains all the good qualities and more of the printed version that was published in 2005. Besides the translations for more than 200,000 headwords and 120,000 phrases and expressions, typographical errors were corrected in the electronic version and new words and expressions added.

The 2005 edition of the Pharos Afrikaans-English / English-Afrikaans Dictionary was the most comprehensive Afrikaans-English dictionary of its kind available in South Africa. Pharos’s editorial team, together with a team of freelancers, compiled this dictionary from the Tweetalige Woordeboek / Bilingual Dictionary, which was originally compiled by DB Bosman and IW van der Merwe, in the care of LW Hiemstra from 1962, and redesigned and expanded after 1967 by PA Joubert and JJ Spies, with a posthumous contribution by Dr. Hiemstra, for the last, eighth edition in 1984.
